I left my Van in storage in Tucson and got back on the schedule I described in the latter part of 7. I didn't stay in a Motel in Tucson as I had thought I would. It seems there was a Gem & Mineral show going on and it must have been a world class event, because the price of Motels had shot up like crazy. Can you believe, they asked $71 for a single in a Motel 6? A slightly better "Red Roof Inn" which is owned by the same firm that owns Motel 6 was asking $78 for a single for one night. Given that I had a perfectly good sleeping bag and air mattress, I drove back east to Benson, AZ where there was a very nice Truck Stop. There were about twenty RV's and, I would guess, over 50 big trucks. The only drawback was that it was about 40 miles from Tucson. It is fast turning out that Arizona is not one of my favorite states.
All went well on the flights. I actually got back in to Oakland a bit earlier because when I was in Los Angles and checked at the South West gate the girl ask if I had any checked baggage and when I didn't she said, "You can get on the flight that is boarding now." That saved me an hour. I could use the time much better getting my water turned on, the furnace lit, the refrigerator started and buy some groceries in San Jose.
Much mail to check, bills to pay, etc. means I have not got around to putting any more on the web. I have, I think, answered most of the email that had accumulated. It has been rainy around here since I left Tucson. My lawn got dry enough that I could mow it yesterday, and today I sprayed some Round-up on some of the weeds around my back fence. It is not supposed to rain again till day after tomorrow.
