The most important problem the world faces.

I remember when the population of this country was less than half of what it is today. Camping was free, Air and water was clear, there was a lot of opened space, and traffic congestion was unheard of.
Over the past few years I have made a few trips to Mexico. The curse of Mexico is over population. Parents, who have little to start with and more kids than they have fingers, can do little for them but dump them on the streets; and the kids have little to offer except their bodies. This is true for both boys and girls. The root of the problem is in the teachings of the Catholic church; but there is little hope until the Pope decides to face reality.
Sadly, as the human population increases less and less of the earths' resources are available for other animals. And, if humans don't limit their population nature will. And the tools of nature are: starvation, disease, conflict and possibly war.
The problem with the schools today is not that the teachers are inadequate, or the facilities are inadequate. These are better today than they have ever been. The problem is that our breading practices for about the last hundred years has developed a human animal that is less capable of learning.
When my parents went to school they had to learn the names and Capitols of every state. This was dropped when I went to school. And today we are graduating, from high school, kids that can't find a state on a map, can't read, and can't do arithmetic.
It is popular to blame the schools. But, you wouldn't blame a chef for turning out a poor meal if you didn't let him control the ingredients he had to use. Don't blame the schools, for turning out dumb kids. Sadly, as any teacher knows, it is the slower ones that dictate the pace of learning for the entire class; so even the brighter kids are held back, by the dumber ones.
