The La Paz County Health Department and the local police served a court order to the Isaiah 58 Project to shut them down. The court order was a "cease and Desist" order that listed 6 separate violations of County Codes.
There were/are at least 12 trailers and RV's on the property that are or were being lived in. The gates are still open and the sign is still up this afternoon, but the court order calls for fines for each violation and for the gates to be locked by the police and the occupants of the extra RV's and trailers to be removed from the property.
No word about the Jewish defense league's lawsuit on the projects behalf against the town of Quartzsite.
I took a moped ride across the freeway onto Kuehn Road today. Wow, the wind destruction last night was terrible. I saw seven trailers and mobile homes that were turned over on their side or had their roofs or walls blown off.
A couple of weeks ago there was a big gas spill of several hundred gallons of gas at the Pilot station. That night we had a lot of rain and it washed the gas into the wash. According to the paper, several nearby residents got sick from all the fumes. That same night, a semi tanker truck was blown over by the wind on the freeway at exit 19 and spilled hundreds of gallons of gas. The local fire dept. was overwhelmed by the spills so they called in the AZ DEQ to try to clean things up.
Anyway, I thought you would like to know what is happening at the Isaiah project. I will keep you posted of any events. I also talked to Steve Bennett about the storage shed that he promised to provide to WestPark Resort. He said he was waiting to build several shed is the same color as the clubhouse but that we could have a white one now. I went to see Christina and she said she would get a sand color shed built for us shortly. I think it is best to wait a week for a tan one. What do you think?
