Hi, everyone, I guess I should start off by saying that there was NO damage to any of your places from the storm. West Park weathered the storm unscathed!
The temperature dropped from 112 to 79 in a matter of less than 5 minutes when the storm hit yesterday. We had hail the size of golf balls for the first few seconds of the storm but it quickly turned into huge drops of rain. The noise of the rain and hail hitting our house and aluminum awning was deafening! I have never seen so much lightning.
The hardest wind and rain was the second storm yesterday, after dark. Even with a full moon, it was pitch black here at 6:30PM. The clouds were absolutely black, and the rain came in sheets. It was as if God was pouring the rain out of a bucket. It was good to get some rain, but it would have been ideal to have a slow, soaking, light rain all night. The washes were still running this morning, more than 12 hours after the rain stopped. This AM, the city had front end loaders scooping mud, rocks, debris and sand out of the streets and washes and the street sweepers were running at full speed.
Who knows when the streets will get rebuilt and paved after the washouts.
Much cooler today but very muggy and humid.
Not much else in the way of news, but I thought you might think you had some damage. You do not!! Everything is fine. The storm was spectacular to watch!... and a little scary, too.
See you this Fall.
