I talked to our town councilman, Walt Akin yesterday at Herbs Hardware.
He said that the town council is very much against the Isaiah 58 Project. He said they are going to run background checks on the good "reverend" Goode. He also said that the planning and zoning department has been instructed to NOT issue ANY permits of any kind because they, the "project", does NOT own the property. The mayor went to Parker and pulled the deeds to the solar city property. It is still in the old owners names and they live back east somewhere. No permits or licenses will be issued to the project as long as the property is not in their name. He said that the rainbow people do not like to own property because they refuse to pay any taxes! The only way the rainbows will own is if they are declared a "church" and are declared as tax-exempt!
There are at least 5 OLD (1950's ish) mobile homes and two old converted greyhound buses on the property now and all have several occupants. There are bums sleeping in cars and tents there too. Walt said the town is looking into loitering ordinances, vagrancy laws, squatters laws, and zoning violations to hit them with. Soon!
Lets hope he is not just "blowing smoke" again. He seems to speak with a forked tongue if you know what I mean. We will see!
I will try to keep everyone posted as things happen. So far, I have been able to stay out of jail and the rainbows have not burned our house down yet.
